MountainHeart
CSBG Assistance Program – MountainHeart offers financial help for families in Wyoming and Fayette Counties. The program can help with: Utility bills (past due electric, water or gas bills in termination), Rent or Mortgage (help with past due payments within the past 2 months), Education Costs (support with vocational training or other approved school expenses), and Groceries (food assistance is based on family size).
Important things to know – you must show documents like past due bills, income, ID and Social Security card. Household income must be within the federal poverty guidelines of 200% and those receiving assistance will work with a case manager for at least 90 days to set goals and find more resources.

SALS (Southern Appalachian Labor School)
SALS operates two food pantries. One is at the SALS Historic Oak Hill School, 140 School Street, Oak Hill. It is on the first Friday from 2-4 pm. Phone number 304-465-4246 with a backup of 304-465-9732 or 304-673-6370
The second is at the SALS Community Center in Beards Fork, 1862 Beards Fork Road. It is Monday afternoon following our pantry date in Oak Hill with a phone number of 304-779-2280
SALS also is a FEMA Emergency Food agency for those on WV 61 and the Fayette County agency for the Dollar Energy Program that provides emergency utility assistance. During the summer, SALS offers a Feed & Read program that provides lunches and books to children in several low income trailer courts and apartment complexes in the Oak Hill and Montgomery areas.

WIC (Women, Infants and Children)
Fayette County staff offer services for pregnant women, infants and children up to the age of five years. In addition to their monthly food package, in the summer they offer farmer’s market coupons. They have breastfeeding classes and one-on-one nutritional consultations to help you make healthy food choices and give you information to establish healthy lifestyle habits.
