Project: Adventure

What is Project: Adventure?

Project: Adventure 2019 was the first step in Fayette County’s Substance Use Disorder (SUD) prevention program. A field trip for children in grades 4 and 5 designed to connect children to existing youth programs in the county. Children are able to try water sports, STEM, musical instruments, shooting sports, disc golf, yoga, and so much more. We are back at it this year for round 4 to show the next group of 4th and 5th graders what Fayette County has to offer.

Why Project: Adventure?

Evidence shows that children who are involved in self chosen, meaningful activities that are led by responsible adults are less likely to experiment with drugs and alcohol. Research also shows that the later in life a person tries drugs and alcohol the less likely they are to use illegal substances as coping strategies. Our aim is to break the cycle of substance misuse and break down the barriers that prevent children from being involved in empowering activities.

Who is Project: Adventure for?

Project: Adventure is for any and all Fayette County 4th and 5th graders!
